Community emergency response training (CERT) is a 20-hour Federally Certified Course for the public. The City of Palm Desert recognizes the value of training our citizenry in disaster management.

This course will provide training in the following areas 

  • Disaster preparedness
  • Team organization
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) 
  • Medical operations
  • Fire suppression
  • Search and rescue
  • Cribbing and shoring 
  • Simulation exercises
  • Disaster psychology

Upon the successful completion of this course, you will receive

  • A CERT certification card

Upcoming CERT Training - Oct 4 - 6

Requirements for participating in CERT training

  • Preregistration is required
  • No walk-ins
  • Minimum age is 16
